Mrs Esther Ugoosuoha, the District Postal Manager, Ilorin branch of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has expressed concern overNigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) in writing letters.
Ugoosuoha made this known on Tuesday during a sensitisation visit of the postal services to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Ilorin on Tuesday.
She called on parents and guardians to encourage their children and wards to engage in letter writing in order to improve their writing skills.
“Most graduates can hardly write application letter because they only use their phones to abbreviate while writing.

“Letter writing is gradually dying among the youths and in schools and must be revived before it is late,” she said.
“I am ready to extend our sensitization programme to schools for students to know how important it is to write.
“Letter writing should be part of the culture of school children, parents have a lot to do to ensure that their children develop the culture of writing letters,” she added.
The district postal manager said NIPOST might introduce letter writing competition among students to encourage them return to the era of letter writing.
Ugoosuoha said NIPOST was alive and ready to create awareness campaign from cities to rural areas in the state on its products and services.
“We decided to kick start our sensitisation programme from a reliable organisation like NAN.
“We want to work with them to get the message clear to the public that NIPOST is still alive.
“We are not stopping here. The awareness train is moving. We can offer the best service to the public with the support of NAN.
“NIPOST offer Post Transfer (Electronic Money transfer), Agency banking, Special delivery service, Bill board /Slogan Advertisement, sales of postage stamp and many other services,” she said.
Ugoosuoha said NIPOST’s EMS, speed post and parcel services were efficient, effective and affordable.
She also said that NIPOST had identity card available to every adult at the payment of a token fee.
According to her, the Post Identity Card is acceptable by government establishments and private organisations as a mean of identification.
