Nine die in fatal crash in Kwara

A fatal accident along Ogbomosho-Ilorin Expressway on Sunday claimed no fewer than nine lives around Airport Road area of Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
Among the victims of the accident, were a two-year-old child and eight adults.
The driver of a speeding Toyota Camry car, with a Lagos registration number- FKJ-54-CE, reportedly lost control and collided head-on with a Mazda 323, with a Kwara registration number – LRN-474 XA. While the Camry had two occupants, seven people were traveling in the Mazda car.

Though the driver of the Toyota Camry, coming from the Ilorin International Airport, who suffered severe injuries, was rescued alive, he later died on the way to the hospital.
Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ilorin, evacuated the bodies of the victims and deposited at the Ilorin General Hospital’s mortuary.
Mr. CC Owoade, the Kwara State FRSC sector commander, explained that none of the occupants of the cars in the head-on collision survived.
