The former senator, representing Kaduna Central in the Eighth National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has queried the Nigerian government over the ongoing National Identity Number (NIN) registration.
The former senator became sceptical of the exercise when the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), also announced the commencement of enrolment of foreign diplomats in Nigeria.
Sani also did not understand why the government should allocate money for National Census despite the NIN registration.
Sani, who questioned the government’s decision to enrol foreigners, said in a tweet on Saturday: “If foreigners are obliged to register for NIN then it can’t be considered as ‘National Identity.
“And if all Nigerians must do it then of what use is allocating money for National Census?”
