Nigerians react as 21-year-old MD is arrested for fraud

Pascal Oparada

21-year-old Managing Director of an investment company, Brisk Capital, which promised 60 per cent return to investors, has been arrested by the Special Fraud Unit for defrauding investors to the tune of N2 billion.

Dominic Joshua Ngene, whom many said ran a Ponzi scheme, featured in many newspapers in Nigeria for his perceived business acumen.

Nigerians berated his investors for trusting a 21 year old with their money, saying he has not grown enough to handle such an investment company.

“The Special Fraud Unit will arraign the founder of BRISK CAPITAL LIMITED, Mr Dominic Joshua Ngene for stealing over N2Billion from investors. The 21 year old promised investors 60% ROI on investment in real estate, forex, oil and gas, e.t.c,” Nnamdi Chife said.

“Every viable and legit business adventure CANNOT offer you more than 10% ROI. Someone promising you a 60% ROI is you setting yourself up for heartbreak. You know this, the fraudulent guy knows this as well but your greed won’t allow you to see the truth in front of you,” Bidemi @harbidemi01 said on Twitter.

Gimba Kakanda berated those who trusted him with their money and wondered how they can fall for such a bogus claim of 60 per cent return of investment.

“A 21-year-old selling 60% ROI per MONTH to people old enough to be his grandparents, people who had experienced all the forms of Ponzi scheme in existence, and they fell for it. Sometimes it’s difficult to feel sorry for the victims of these greed-driven “investments.”, he said on Twitter.

Others said age has nothing to do with managing a business.
