Nigeria records 7 more deaths, 838 new Covid-19 infections in 24 hours

The second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has continued to wreak havoc, as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported seven more deaths and 838 new cases on Sunday.

The latest figures bring the total number of deaths to 1,254 as well as 84,414 infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.

The NCDC also confirmed the discharge of 539 patients, bringing the total number of recoveries to 71,034.

The new cases were spread across 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which recorded the highest number with 297 cases.

The FCT was closely followed by Lagos State, with 253 new cases.

Others are: Plateau – 82; Kaduna – 57; Katsina – 32; Nasarawa – 31; Kano – 25; Gombe – 24; Oyo – 8; Rivers – 8; Zamfara – 7; Ogun – 4; Bauchi – 4; Edo – 4 and Sokoto and Anambra states, which reported one new case each.
