A Zaria-based NGO, Arewa Youth Trust Foundation, on Wednesday concluded three months training for 200 Youths and Women on Computer Literacy and other related areas in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the training also covers other areas like Gender Based Violence (GBV), Climate Action, Drug Abuse and Peaceful Co-existence.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony held at the District Head’s office, Sabongari, the District Head, Alhaji Ahmed Bashir-Amin lauded the foresight of the foundation.
Bashar-Amin, who is also the Danbarhim Zazzau, described the NGO as an organisation with a unique, gigantic and sound innovation.

He said: “The training will not only benefit the trainees but also the society at large; therefore, I urge the management of the foundation to continue with such initiative.”
The NGO’s Programme Manager, Alhaji Ahmed Abba-Mohammed, said the training was specifically organised to curb societal vices, especially among the youth.
He pleaded with the participants to be good ambassadors of the foundation by impacting positively on their respective communities.
The Executive Director of the foundation, Alhaji Fahad Ahmed-Chikaji, said the essence of the programme was to give the youth and women a sense of hope and a sense of direction towards becoming self-sufficient.
“Our vision and mission is to have a sound and productive society free from drug abuse, gender based violence and illiteracy.

We also want to use this medium to thank the elderly role, support and constructive criticism from the District Heads of Sabongari, Tudun Wada and that of Birni-da-kewaye, which had led to a successful sensitisation programme,” he said.
The District Head of Tudun Wada, Alhaji Abdulqadir Magaji, encouraged the NGO not to relent in its efforts to ensure a better society.
Magaji, who was represented by Alhaji Usman Aminu, Sarkin Nasarawan Tudun Wada, observed that the initiative would be an eye opener to the beneficiaries.
Speaking on behalf of other participants, Malam Umar Musa-Hussain and Hadiza Maina, male and female group leaders respectively, appreciated the trainers for providing them with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills to stand on their feet.
The trainees pledged that they would be good ambassadors of the NGO and promised to transfer the knowledge to their immediate communities.
NAN reports that the three months training drew beneficiaries from Sabongari and Zaria Local Government Areas of Kaduna State held in three centres located at Sabongari, Zaria and Tudun Wada. (NAN)
