According to him, the organisation gives priority to schools located in rural communities of the state due to neglect schools in such areas suffer.

He added that such situation also affect the performance of students.

“Some of us are products of community schools and we had nasty experiences due to lack of science equipment which led to poor performances in practical.

“So we understand what students in such schools suffer. We need to help them get used to science equipment,” he said.

Ochinawata said that although government was doing its best in the provision of instructional materials, which he said was not enough.

“Inadequate or lack of science and laboratory equipment in public schools had impacted negatively on science education,’’ he noted.

Ochinawata described science education as the bedrock of development.

He, however, called on good-spirited individuals to lend their hands to lift science and technology education as government could not do it alone.

Also, Mr Valentine Ogbu, the Secretary of the organisation, said that the donation was meant to build the capacity of the students.

Ogbu said that human capital development should not be left in the hands of government alone, saying that every strata of the society had a role to play.

He said that the funds for the purchase of the science and laboratory equipment were raised through freewill donations by members of the organisation.

One of the principals of the benefiting schools, Mr Andrew Ejiofor, thanked the group for the kind gesture.

Ejiofor, who is the Principal of Community Secondary School, Imilike Agu, said that students of the benefiting schools would live to remember such benevolence. (NAN)
