New twist in Ogun sexual harassment case as teenager wants matter rested

Anthony Iwuoma

The teenager that accused a commissioner in Ogun State of sexual harassment, Melojeuekun Barakat Mayowa, now wants Nigerians to forget about the matter.

The 16-year-old secondary school student had alleged that the state Commissioner for Environment, Abiodun Abudu-Balogun, made sexual overtures to her and also recited incantations over her head for apparent ritual purposes.

However, in a new video, Barakat stated that there was actually misconception and misunderstanding between her and the commissioner but still wants the matter to be put to rest.

“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to meaningful Nigerians to please allow this matter to rest,” she said in the new video while appreciating those that have shown concern for her.

The Ogun State Government had already suspended Abudu-Balogun and ordered full investigation into the matter.

The state police command has also invited the embattled commissioner for questioning.

Mayowa had on Saturday alleged in a video that the Commissioner attempted to seduce her with money, after fondling her breasts and reciting incantation over her head.

However, Abudu-Balogun debunked the allegation, attributing it to his political enemies out to blackmail him.
