NDA admits security breach at Afaka barracks

The management of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has confirmed what called ‘security breach’ at the foremost military institution in the country, on Tuesday morning.

It has been earlier reported that a large number of bandits had attacked the NDA campus, in Afaka, Kaduna State, around 1:30am.

It was further gathered that Lt. Commander  Wulah and Flight Lieutenant CM Okoronkwo were the officers shot dead.

Another officer, Major Datong was kidnapped while Second Lieutenant Onah sustained gunshot wounds. He is said to be receiving treatment at the moment.

In a statement made available to the media,  NDA’s Public Relations Officer, Major Bashir Muhd Jajira, admitted of the security breach in the heavily-guarded complex.

His statement read thus, “The security architecture of the Nigerian Defence Academy was compromised early this morning by unknown gunmen who gained access into the residential area within the Academy in Afaka.

“During the unfortunate incident, we lost two personnel and one was abducted.

“The Academy in collaboration with the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Air Training Command as well as other security agencies in Kaduna State has since commenced pursuit of the unknown gunmen within the general area with a view to tracking them and rescue the abducted personnel.

“The NDA community and Cadets are safe in the Academy. We assure the general public that this unknown gunmen would soon be apprehended and the abducted personnel rescued.”
