National census: Population commission begins delineation in Plateau

The National Population Commission (NPC) has started delineation of Kanke Local Government in Plateau State in preparation for a national census.

Mrs. Cecilia Dapeot, the Federal Commissioner of NPC, made this known on Friday when she visited the Executive Chairman of the council.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there are 17 local government areas in the state.

According to Dapeot, “We (NPC) are in Kanke to effectively delineate the area in preparation for the forthcoming national census.

“This exercise (delineation) is going on in the state to ensure that we carry out this important national assignment effectively and efficiently.

“We are also in Kanke to solicit for your cooperation to enable NPC succeeds in this national assignment,” she said.

Kanke Council Chairman Emmanuel Lar lauded the exercise, saying the demarcations should be properly carried out to avoid any lapses that might negatively affect the results of the census in the area.

Lar pledged to give the commission the desired cooperation and support for it to succeed in the assignment.

Other dignitaries present during the visit include NPC Comptroller for Kanke Local Council, Mrs Laraba Mangut, Representative of Traditional Council and the District Head of Amper, Nde Emmanuel Jatau Koprit. (NAN)
