Nasarawa Govt. assures council workers of improved welfare

The Nasarawa State Local Government Service Commission, has assured Local Government staff in the state of its continued commitment to improving their welfare for effective service delivery.

The Chairman of the commission, Barr. Sani Bawa, gave the assurance on Tuesday while addressing staff of Udege and Loko Development Areas of the state during his tour of the areas.

Bawa said that the state government was doing its best to improve on the welfare of worker welfare at the state level.

He urged the staff of the commission to reciprocate the gesture through dedicated services.

He also tasked the staff of the commission on diligence and team work for optimal productivity and overall development of local government system.

The commission chairman said the tour was meant to interact with the local government staff with a view to addressing their challenges in the job.

Bawa further advised the local government councils’ staff against truancy, absenteeism and
other sharp practices in the interest inimical to their productivity.

“This tour is very crucial to the development of not only the staff but the development of the state at large.

“Because it will afford the local government staff the opportunity to brainstorm on issues
affecting them and on how to address such problems.

“I want to call on all of you to be productive in order to justify your take home pay through dedication to duties and hard-work.

“This is to contribute your quota to the development of the state for the benefit of all.

“You are also advised to shun absenteeism, truancy and other sharp practices capable of affecting your productivity, your image and the image of the state and the country at large.

“The commission will never tolerate any act of absenteeism, lateness to duties,” he said.

He commended the existing working relationship between the management of the councils and its staff.

The commission chairman assured them of the state government’s continued commitment to their training and retraining.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the staff who spoke during the interactive session commended the commission for the visit.

They assured the commission of their readiness to continue to be up and doing for effective service delivery and optimal productivity. (NAN)
