More TETFUND projects to commence AE-FUNAI

The Tertiary Education Trustfund (TETfund) has approved commencement  of the Special Impact Projects for the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, AE-FUNAI.

Vice- Chancellor of the university, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba, disclosed the good news during the recent university management meeting.

The TETfund projects as approved cover 2016 Special  Impact Projects and 2017/2018/2019 Merged TETfund Projects, include construction of a new Senate Chamber’s Building, Lecturers’ Office Blocks, Faculty of Management and Social science Building, Academic buildings for Faculty of Medicine, Arts Theatre and Extended Walk Ways and Bridges, Academic Building for Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law Building, Library and Moot Court, Laboratory Blocks for Faculty of Science, French Centre, Igbo Centre and Green House for Faculty of Agriculture.

NEEDS to be provided in line with the approval include, Tractor and Implements for Faculty of Agriculture, Equipment for Faculty of Engineering, Office Furniture and Equipment for Faculty of Education.

While sharing the cheering news on the new development, Prof Nwajiuba promised to provide more vehicles for some Deans of Faculties, Directors and Heads of Departments/Units before end of the year, to facilitate their movements and of course achieve delivery on their responsibilities.  Also to ensure that the issue of water shortage in the campus become a thing of the past, Prof. Nwajiuba constituted a team of Technical Experts, nominated among staff of the university during the meeting as Water Supply Committee under Headship of Dr. Adrian Ezeocha, Director, Physical Planning, Works and Services (PPW&S), to address the issue of water supply in the university. The committee was mandated to move into action immediately.

Members of staff at the meeting applauded the vice chancellor and commended him for the high level of responsible and committed leadership he has provided the young but fast growing university which has resulted in the success story the university is enjoying.

Prof. Nwajiuba  thanked TETFUND and Federal Government of Nigeria for the support the university has received since its inception, especially the recent commissioning of  2.8MW Rural Electrification Agency’s Energising Education Programme (EEP)Phase 1 University  Power Project, which has placed AE-FUNAI first among other universities and institutions in Nigeria, selected for the programme, to enjoy 24 hours uninterrupted power supply.

He also encouraged the staff, to remain steadfast, committed and hardworking, while promising better days ahead for the university.
