Mayhem in Ondo as herdsmen set four communities ablaze, injure many

Suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded and burnt down four communities in Ondo State.

Several farmers in lgbatoro/Ala/Imafon communities in Ondo North were injured during the invasion over disagreement over grazing and destruction of farmlands.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Undia Adie, quickly deployed operatives of the police command to the affected communities to ensure peace.

Personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have also mobilised and keeping vigil in the communities.

The farmers had insisted that they would no longer tolerate continuous destruction of their farmlands by the herdsmen that had often resulted in confrontations.

Consequently, they resolved in a meeting to send emissaries to warn the herdsmen to warn them against further destruction of their farmlands.

However, it led by the farmers’ decision, the herdsmen reportedly invaded the communities as the people slept that same night after receiving the farmers’ warning to desist using their herds to destroy their farms.

Following the attack, residents of the affected communities, destroyed which Adejubu, Adewole, Olotin, Olondan and Jojo, have fled to seek refuge in neighbouring.
