Mantu: Covid-19 claims another major scalp

Former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu, who died in the early hours of Tuesday, succumbed to complications of Covid-19, The Nigerian Xpress can authoritatively confirm.

The frontline politician who was put into isolation late last week was said to be on oxygen all the while.
However, things got out of hand early yesterday, with family members resorting to prayers for the full recovery of the 74year-old Plateau State-born politician.

But he gave up the ghost early Tuesday.
Curiously, Mantu was said to have taken his second jab, thereby, completed his two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine before now.
The suspicion is that he was either compromised by an underlying ailment, or by the new Delta strain of the dreaded Corona Virus.

The likeable politician was scheduled for burial in Abuja Tuesday afternoon.
