Police launch manhunt for murderers

The Lagos State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the murderers of a yet-to-be identified man, who was reported slaughtered, his body parts packed in a sack and dumped along Martins Street, at Igbo Elerin area of the state.

It was gathered that residents of the area, had woken up on Saturday, June 15, to the gory sight of a sack with the remains, dumped in the corner of the street.

The residents who perceived there may be more to the blood soaked sack had  alerted the Okokomaiko Police Division.

When policemen from the division visited the scene and opened the said sack, the severed body parts of the man, who is said to be around 40-years-old was discovered.

According to the Lagos Police Spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Elkana Bala, the body parts recovered included the head, left hand, back side lap which was slashed off and taken away.

Bala said, ” The command is on the trail of the suspected murderers, who had allegedly killed the man. The homicide detectives visited the scene where the sack with blood stains contained the remains of a male victim of about 40-years-old. The corpse was removed and deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.”

Commenting on the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence  Department( SCIID), to take over the investigation.

Muazu had also directed the SCIID to unravel the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder and apprehend those behind the heinous crime.

Muazu also called on members of the public with useful information about the incident to contact the Police.
