A 40-year-old man, Olanrewaju Bamidele, who had allegedly stabbed his wife on the head with a screw driver and attempting to secretly bury her, has been arrested by policemen from the Ogun State Police Command.
Bamidele who was married to the deceased, Adenike Olanrewaju, for over 16years, was arrested on Sunday, January 19, 2020, for killing the woman.
Olanrewaju Ayomide, the 15-year-old son of the deceased, was said to have reported the matter which happened at Bisodun village, Ofada, to the Ofada Police Post.
According to Ayomide, his deceased mother had a misunderstanding with his father which resulted to fight between them. He stated further that his father used a big stick to beat the victim to comma, after which he used a screw driver to stab her on the head, resulting to the death of his mother.

Speaking on the arrest of the suspect, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, said:
“On the strength of the report, the Officer in-charge Ofada Police Post, Akinfolahan Oluseye, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), led his men to the scene at Bisodun village via Ofada where the suspect who had been held down by the people of the Community was handed over to the police, and he was immediately taken to Owode-Egba Police Divisional Headquarters, where he is currently being interrogated.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is fond of beating his wife from time to time, and after beating the woman to death; he was about to bury the woman secretly when the deceased children who saw him digging a grave by the side of his house alerted their neighbors who rushed to the scene and held him down before the arrival of the police.
“The corpse of the victim has been deposited at Olabisi Onabanjo teaching hospital mortuary Sagamu for autopsy, while the screw driver and the stick which the suspect used to kill the victim have also been recovered.”
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command, CP Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), for further investigation and prosecution.
