The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, John Pwadon, who allegedly stabbed his friend’s five-year-old son to death in Yola, the state capital.

In a rather bizarre circumstance, Pwadon, who was visiting his friend and waiting to be served breakfast on Friday, suddenly stabbed the five-year-old David Tarfa to death with a knife.

According to the grieving father, Stephen Tarfa, the suspect was his friend and was visiting him after five years of separation.

“He has been my friend for the past ten years but we’ve not seen for the past five years until he came visiting last Friday and we accommodated him just the way you would do to a respected old friend,” he said.

“In the morning, he was with my kids, watching cartoons in the parlour. They didn’t go to school because it was their mid-term break.

“My wife was in the kitchen preparing breakfast and I was in the bedroom when my daughter cried for help for us to rescue her brother. We both ran to the parlour and found John stabbing my son repeatedly in his neck. I managed to wrestle him down but it was too late, my little kid was already down in the pool of his blood.”

Suleiman Nguroje, a deputy superintendent of police, DSP, who is the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, confirmed the tragic incident and said Pwado had confessed to the crime and would be charged to court today.
