Man, 24, carves body of 10-yr-old domestic help with hot knife

…For licking mom’s chocolate beverage

A 24-year-old man, Badmus Folarin, is being held by the police in Ogun State for allegedly using a hot kitchen knife to inflict grievous body harm on a 10-year-old domestic help.

The victim, Sunday David, had been living with the suspect’s parents at No. 12 Elegushi street, Owode Yewa, in Ogun State, for close to one year before the incident.

Folarin alleged that the boy had secretly opened and licked a good quantity from his mother’s tin of Milo beverage.

The suspect said when the matter was reported to him, he chose to punish the boy for exhibiting such bad act.

He reportedly put a kitchen knife on the fire, and when it was red hot, placed same on the victim’s buttocks.

According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, concerned neighbours reported the matter at the Owode Egbado Police Station.

Opyeymi said: “The Divisional Police Officer (DPO),  Olabisi Elebute, a Superintendent of Police (SP), was called by neighbours that they were hearing sorrowful cry of a young boy at No. 12, Elegushi Street, Owode Yewa.

“Consequently, the DPO detailed the patrol team to the scene where the young boy was seen lying down helplessly with serious injury all over his body.

“On enquiry, it was discovered that the suspect put a knife on fire and when the knife was red hot, he applied it to the buttocks of the young boy thereby inflicting a second-degree burn on the boy.

“On interrogation, the suspect alleged that the victim, who is living with the family opened a tin of Milo beverage, belonging to the suspect’s mother and licked from it.

“The victim was quickly rushed to OreOfe Hospital by the police for medical attention while the suspect was also arrested and detained.

 “The Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and possible prosecution.”
