The Plateau State Government said it has procured three 3.2 million treated insecticide nets to tackle Mosque bites, which usually causes malarial fever.

Public Affairs to Governor Simon Lalong, Dr. Makut Simon Macham stated this, on Wednesday, in Jos, Plateau State capital.
According to him, the treated nets were satisfied by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) at the cost of N3.7 billion.
“Plateau State Government has taken possession of 3.2 million insecticide treated bed nets valued at 3.7 billion naira from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).”
According to Dr. Makut, Governor Lalong warned against sale of the nets by either staff or beneficiaries of the scheme, saying that anyone caught would be prosecuted.

He also said that Governor Lalong expressed appreciation to the United States Government for the contribution which he said was the result of close partnership that spans many years.
The Director of Press also said Governor Lalong has directed the immediate release of N126 million counterpart funding to facilitate quick distribution of the nets to the people of the State.
“Our rescue administration pays a lot of premium on healthcare delivery and will continue to forge partnerships with domestic and international organisations such as USAID.”
His statement added that “these nets should first be distributed from the rural areas to all citizens especially women and children before coming up to the urban centres.”
It was gathered that distribution of the net would engage 25,000 youths as ad-hoc staff.
According to the press release, the state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nimkong Ndam said the nets would assist the state to tackle malaria and other diseases.
