Business tycoon, Lyon Pereworimini, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Bayelsa State.
The collation officer, Emmanuel Dangana, declared Lyon winner at a press conference in Yenagoa, the state capital on Wednesday.
According to Dangana, who addressed the press on behalf of the chairman of the election panel, the Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, said Lyon polled 42,138 votes to beat a female aspirant, Diseye Poweigha who came second with 1,533 votes while Ongoebi Etubu scored 964 votes.
He also said Ebitimi Amgbare had 633 votes, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri 571 and Preye Aganaba polled 354 votes.
Lyon, an oil magnate, came into the race barely a week to the primary election.
