The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the entire 13 Chairmanship seats and 171 Councillorship positions in last Saturday local Government Polls in Ebonyi State.
The election was conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) across the 13 local Government and 171 Electoral wards in the state.
Announcing the results at the Commission Headquarters, in Abakaliki, on Sunday, Chairman of the Commission, Barr. Jossy Eze, declared that 13 PDP Chairmanship Candidates were returned elected.
He said that a total of 171 councillorship candidates of the PDP were equally declared Councillors-elect having defeated other rivals that participated in the election.
He named the Chairmanship -elects to include Mr Sunday Nwangele (Abakaliki), Barr. Obigeri Oko Eyum (Afikpo North), Barr. Eni Uduma Chima (Afikpo south), Engr Ken Eze (Ezza south), Mrs. Nora Alu (Ezza North,) and Mrs. Chinyere Nwaogbaga (Ebonyi ), respectively.
Others include Chief Steve Orogwu (Ikwo). Mr Onyebuchi Ogbadu (Ivo), Mr. Sunday Henry Eze (Ishielu), Mr. Clement Odah (Ohaukwu), and Mr. Paul Nwogha (Izzi chairman-elect), respectively.
Barr. Eze said that a total of 13 political parties fielded candidates during the Council elections in the state.
He outlined other political parties that participated in the election to include Alliance for Democracy (AD), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party (LP) among others while the All Progressive Congress (APC) boycotted the election.
However, the EBSIEC Chairman while announcing the results of the election did not disclose the figures scored by each of the candidates of the election.
Reacting on the outcome, the Ebonyi State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, described PDP victory as ‘victory for Democracy’.
He commended EBSIEC for organising a free, fair and credible election in the state.
