Lekki Toll Gate killings: Seek dialogue with youths, Cleric tells Lagos govt.

The Lagos State Government has been urged to continue to dialogue with irate youths in the state over the recent supposed killings at the Lekki Toll Gate during the #EndSARS protest.

The state government was also urged to adequately compensate families of victims of the crisis.

The call was made by Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Supt. Apostle  Joseph Adagba, while addressing participants during the opening of the 7th Annual General Conference of the chapter held at Divine Events Centre at Obanikoro area of state.

The 3-day event, which ended ended on Saturday, was graced by hundreds of delegates from all C&S churches across the state.

Apostle Adagba also urged youths in the state to support the state state government in whatever steps they might want to take to mitigate the lapses occasioned by the crisis.

According to him, “As a spiritual organisation in the state, we commiserate with the families of innocent youths who were injured and probably died during the #EndSARS protest. It was a sad experience that we do not wish a reoccurrence again in the state and in any part of the country, at large.

“Also, it is necessary for the aggrieved youths to allow the state government investigate all that transpired during the Lekki Toll Gate saga. As our political leaders we should allow their investigations. In the end, should always explore all avenues to resolve their grievances rather than resort to violence as we witnessed during the Lekki Toll Gate crisis.”

Apostle Adagba also urged religious bodies in the state to join government efforts at peaceful co-existence among their members in the state saying that it was under a peaceful atmosphere that the government could bring the much craved-for dividends of democracy to the people.

He also urged religious bodies to continue to pray for office holders in the state so that they could govern with the fear God.

In his speech, representative of the Supreme Head of the C&S Unification Church of Nigeria, Snr. Supt. Apostle Emmanuel Owomoyela, commended the Lagos State chapter executive for the sustenance of the ideals of the church in the state. He urged the leadership of the chapter to continue to maintain peaceful coexistence among other religious bodies in the state.
