Lawmaker enrols 165 orphans to schools in Zamfara

A member of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Kabiru Maipalace, has enrolled no fewer than 165 orphans and other indigent children in school, to enable them acquire qualitative education.

Maipalace, who represents Gusau/Tsafe Federal constituency, said through his Personal Secretary, Mustafa Hassan.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau on Thursday that those enrolled were children from less privileged homes, who were out of school because of the poverty level of their parents.

The lawmaker said the children were now enrolled into various public primary schools in Gusau and Tsafe Local Government Areas.

“In Tsafe, we enrolled 120 pupils while in Gusau we enrolled 45 pupils and provided each pupil with school uniform and writing materials.

“The gesture is part of my commitment to complement state government efforts to reduce the number of out of school children in the state”, he said.

The lawmaker said he also procured 500 admission forms from various tertiary institutions within and outside the state for secondary schools leavers in the constituency willing to further their education.

“We procured 50 admission forms from Abdu-Gusau Polytechnic Talata-Mafara, 40 from Zamfara state College of Art and Sciences, Gusau and 30 from College of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe.

“Others were 40 from Federal Polytechnic Kaura-Namoda, 50 from Zamfara College of Education Maru, 40 from Kaduna Polytechnic, 100 from Federal University, Gusau while 50 forms were procured from Federal College of Education (Technical), Gusau.

“We also procured 40 forms from School of Basic and Remedial Studies, Funtua run by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and 50 from School of Matriculation Studies of Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, to be distributed to our youths who are willing to go for Remedial studies.

“We are going to sponsor all the successful candidates that get admission in the listed institutions up to the conclusion of their programmes”, he said. (NAN)
