LASU Fees Reduction Excites Activist

A right activist, Prince Dare Aladekoba, has expressed excitement over fees reduction at the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, describing the development as heart-warming and commendable.

Aladekoba, who is the National Convener of the Royal Peoples Platform (RPP), therefore commended the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his thoughtfulness in the step taken toward the reduction of the tuition fees for fresh students of the state-owned university.

Recall the news of the fees reduction was conveyed to the public weekend by Governor Sanwo-Olu through his Special Adviser on Education, Tokunbo Wahab, who said the step taken was in tandem with his commitment to the provision of qualitative education at an affordable cost to all and sundry without discrimination of any form.

The elated activist in a chat with newsmen in Lagos Tuesday said stated Governor Sanwo-Olu has further established himself in the mind of the people as a listening leader to the yearning of his people, asserting that, the step has also confirmed that the people that gave him the governorship mandate in 2019 never made a mistake.

“This latest development has confirmed that the governor is really fulfilling his electioneering promises made in 2019 vis a vis his administration’s education agenda. The development would no doubt curb restiveness on the campus and ensure a conducive environment for learning.

It is on record that LASU students had once protested the hike in tuition fees by the institution’s authorities that increased the tuition fees for fresh students by 168 per cent increase (from N25, 000 to N67, 048.50), calling for the immediate reversal of the decision within two weeks.

Aladekoba has therefore called on the beneficiaries of the governor’s largesse to reciprocate the good gesture by supporting and cooperating with his administration to encourage him to do more for the people in all the sectors for the good of all, just as he also commended the governor for his usual swift intervention in matters that require prompt intervention.

Why pledging his group’s support for Sanwo-Olu’s administration, Aladekoba assured that, “our members would always support all efforts that would ensure good governance for the welfare of the people of the state, observing that, “the manifesting signs are an indication that Sanwo-Olu’s second year in office would be better than his first year that earned local and international accolades.”

He, therefore, admonished the governor that he should continue with the good job he has been doing without listening to the noises of detractors whose natural antics are to see nothing good on the side of the governor.
