LASEMA cautions Lagosians over heavy downpour

Due to the aftermath of the recent downpour and the expected heavy rainfall this year, the management of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA has drawn the attention of Lagosians to the safety tips needed at this period.

The Head of the Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu who made this known to newsmen in Lagos, stated that it has been responding to distress calls from Lagosians on flooding in different parts of the state.

Dr Oke- Osanyintolu reassured residents of its support at emergencies.

“We wish to reassure the good people of Lagos that we are on standby via our emergency lines 112/767 to respond,” he said.

The LASEMA boss also urged Lagosians to avoid travelling to areas affected by flooding.

The Agency boss appealled to parents and guardians to keep their children and wards warm and dry to avoid secondary illnesses.

Dr Oke-Osanyintolu advised community leaders to use the public holidays to clear out blocked drainages to allow free flow of water to reduce the impact of flood in their area.

He assured Lagosians of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s commitment to assisting those dealing with flood damage in the state.

An elderly woman who was trapped in a flooded building at Ipaja Ayobo area of Lagos State has been rescued by the operatives of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA.

Reports by the agency said the incident followed the heavy downpour of Saturday 9th July, 2022, which ravaged the area.

says a search and rescue operation by the Agency’s response team, confirmed the victim to be alive although she is suffering from a stroke.
Nigerian Xpress reports that the Pre hospital care unit of the agency has administered first aid treatment on the victim before transporting him to the hospital.
