“Lagos4Lagos’ Movement accuses Lagos APC of hjjacking Ward Congress, disenfrachising members

The ‘Lagos4Lagos’ political movement led by Dr. Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor has cried out over the exclusion of it’s members for APC Ward Congress election in Lagos state which is scheduled for Saturday, July 31.

Dr. Adediran said the process has been hijacked to favour certain interests.

In a press briefing on Friday at the movement’s Secretariat, he said the Seven men national committee led by Muhammed Bashir should have constituted another ward committee to monitor election into the various posts but have refused to do so, adding the party at the State prevented its members who had indicated an interest in contesting for positions from accessing forms for the election in spite of paying for the forms.

‘One of the guidelines for the ward congress says there must be an election in 245 wards and we have paid for our forms, but as of this evening, just a few hours to the election, we have not been given the forms. It is obvious that they are really scared of the competition. We will go ahead with the Congress tomorrow.

“As an aspirant, we have the list of our people who have bought the forms, and we are calling on our members to come out tomorrow for the ward election which will come up on Saturday,” he said.

The APC ward congresses are expected to take place in two 245 wards across the state.

Olajide added: “We have our tellers as evidence. We know what they are doing, they want the status quo remains. We will go ahead with our own congress because we have paid into the coffers of the party. At the end of the exercise, we will submit our list. They only invited us to the stakeholders meeting because they know we are a force to be reckoned with.”

In his reaction, APC spokesman, Seye Oladejo denied the party prevented members of the group from collecting forms.

“Perhaps they need some political education here. There’s an Adhoc committee set up and deployed to all the states of the federation by the National Caretaker Committee for the purpose of conducting the ward congress. I think it’s uncharitable to drag the state governor into needless politics and distractions.
It’s just a poorly thought allegation from a group that will soon be history.”

Adediran said the group will not hesitate to seek redress in court if they are displeased with the outcome of the election.

Adediran reaction followed a stakeholders meeting held on Friday by the APC National Ward Congress Committee at Airport Hotel, Ikeja, with some members of the party. The group was at the meeting.

Addressing the stakeholders, the Chairman of the Committee, Bashir Dangiyadi appealed to those present at the meeting to cooperate with the committee by ensuring that the Congress is peaceful in all the wards.

Dangyadi stated that the party has chosen consensus as a way to conduct the congresses, noting that the exercise must be conducted in the party’s ward offices, and be peaceful.
