Lagos too important to be neglected, says FG

Speaking on behalf of members of the committee, Senator Aileru said the federal government will ensure works are completed on time on the roads.

” We are here to inspect all ongoing road projects especially the  Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonshoki, Ikorodu-Sagamu expressways. We have allocated funds so we have come progress been made to ensure the work is completed on time.

The Lagos Ibadan expressway is important because its an important road for all Nigerians and the President wants to handover the road to Nigerians this year or next year. The federal government has borrowed money which will be supplemented by Abacha loot which will arrive this week or next week,” Senator Ailero said.

He added: ” Lagos is the commercial centre of Nigeria and a gateway to Africa subregion that is why government is paying attention to Lagos State. Lagos is home to two major seaports and the biggest refinery is being built in Lekki. We consider Lagos to be home to many people.”

In his response, Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu also promised the state government commitment and collaboration with the federal government on the projects.
” We will collaborate with the federal government to ensure the roads are delivered on time,” the governor promised.
