Lagos State government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will, from April 15 to 18 hold its inaugural energy summit to address and proffer solutions to electricity crisis in the state.
According to the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Abiodun Ogunleye, the summit themed ’Journey to Energy for All’, will have 150 energy experts who will speak on regulatory frameworks that will help the state to achieve electricity independence.
While speaking at a briefing, the commissioner said the summit is coming on the heels of the executive order on electricity signed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in December 2024 and the new federal government regulations allowing states to be energy independent.
He added that the summit will bring together stakeholders in the energy sector for robust interactions,discussion and knowledge sharing.
“The summit aims to drive the adoption of innovative energy solutions, promote sustainable mineral resources development, power Lagos State’s socio-economic growth and development, and foster collaboration among stakeholders. More importantly, the summit will focus on the Lagos State Electricity Law 2024,” he said.
Ogunleye noted that energy professionals, government officials: policymakers, regulators, and government officials, private sector Investors, academia and research Institutions as well as environmental organizations and advocacy groups will.be part of the summit.
He said Lagos being a megacity deserves regular supply of electricity to attract investors.
“The Lagos Energy Summit 2025 is not just about discussions, it is about action. We invite all stakeholders, local and international investors, energy developers, policymakers, and innovators to be part of this historic gathering,” he said.
