Lagos State Government on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU with six developers to begin construction of 8,272 bed space hostels at the Lagos State University, LASU.

At the signing ceremony at Lagos House, Marina, the governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu told the contractors to ensure quality jobs are done, warning that he would be on their trail.

“This signing show there is something we are doing therefore we should not be found wanton. People can complain but what you have done will speak for itself because posterity will judge us. We have a job to do and we must do it. I want to thank you for putting your investment into this project.

It is when we make investment like this that we can help the youths actualise their tomorrow. This is a model other states will follow. I will be on your case because my word is my bond. You have committed to this so there must not be story. I will be monitoring you. If there are hiccups, we will remove it. Do a good and fantastic job. See it as an opportunity to do bigger things for us in future,” the governor said.

In his response, the Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Lanre Fagbohun said the construction of the hostel would change the face of the university.

“We can only say thank you to the governor. We know posterity will judge you right. To the contractors, we say thank you for believing in the university,” he said.

The construction will be completed within 18months.
