Lagos Maritime Week to attract more foreign investors — Organisers

The 2019 Lagos International Maritime Week will attract more foreign investors into the nation’s maritime industry, according to Ortsematosan Edodo-Emore, Chief Executive of Zoe Maritime Resources, organiser of the event.

Edodo-Emore told journalists on Friday in Lagos that the conference and exhibition, scheduled to hold from September 24th to September 26th, would also attract investment into the maritime sector in West and Central Africa sub regions.

“The conference and exhibition seeks to showcase the maritime capacities and capabilities as key players in the maritime industry in Nigeria and in the West and Central African Sub-regions.

“The conference will bring in foreign businesses to partner with Nigerian companies and those of other countries in the sub region.

“It will discuss maritime security, maritime transportation, marine environment, training and education, maritime law and arbitration, women in maritime, port development and ease of doing business,” she said.

Edodo-Emore said conference will also discuss innovation, sustainability and safety of water transportation in Nigeria, challenges of vessel ownership and the sustainability of the blue economy in Africa, revamping of the Ports for efficiency and other issues.

According to her, the conference and exhibition is also aimed at developing a maritime curriculum to sustain the blue economy.

Edodo-Emore said that the conference, with theme; ‘Africa’s Blue Economy – Innovation, Sustainability and Diversity’, would also provide opportunity for industry players, shipowners, government and investors to network. (NAN).
