Lagos launches CitizensGate 2.0 app to address citizens’ complaints

The Lagos State Government, through the Office of Civic Engagement, on Thursday,  launched CitizensGate 2.0, a mobile application,  to address complaints from Lagosians and intimate them of the government’s activities.
The CitizensGate 2.0 is an upgrade to the CitizensGate 1.0 which has been in existence for some years.
While speaking at the launching, the Special Adviser to the governor, Mrs. Aderemi Adebowale,  said the CitizensGate 2.0 Platform is an application that interfaces with the citizens of the state and is expected to take governance to the doorstep of Lagosian “irrespective of their social class for all-inclusive governance, while bringing governance closer to the governed.’
According to her,  some of the features of the platform include website, mobile app, whatsApp,  other social media platforms, a 767 toll-free line, which is the  non-emergency number.
She added that the upgraded app. is tailored to offer social benefits such  as feedback mechanism, population profiling, captures accurate public opinion, tracking and Enforcing of Government Performances.
Other benefits include  provision of  security/community policing, LASRRA registration and verification, access to day-to -day activities across ministries and agencies.
The platform would also be used to address several issues, provide enquiries,address complaints,take  suggestions and commendations.
 The Special further said two staff from each ministries and agencies have been trained as resolvers to attend to whatever complaints from the people within ten minutes of receiving such.
Commissioner for Science and Technology,  Mr. Akeem Fahm,  said it’s the duty of the government to listen to citizens and give feedback  on what the government has been doing as well as resolve issues.
“It’s important to keep our citizens informed of our activities so we will make sure this system is available 24//7,” he said.
The Commissioner for Information,  Gbenga Omotoso said the application was in response to complaints by the people during the election that the government was far from the citizen, adding the platform would bridge the communication gap between the government and the people.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure,  Mrs. Aramide Adeyoye  said the CitizensGate 2.0 would put every ministries and agencies on their toes to be closer to the people.
