Lagos govt. denies return of monthly sanitation exercise

Lagosians have been urged to disregard a report making the rounds purporting that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise has returned in Lagos State.

In a statement signed by Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Gbiyega Akosile, it said no such decision had been made.

The statement read thus: “Our attention has been drawn to a piece of information being shared on social media and WhatsApp group, which states that there will be an environmental sanitation exercise on Saturday as a result of an Executive Order signed by His Excellency, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu on his day 1 in office as Governor of Lagos State.

“We urge Lagosians to kindly ignore the message. Although Governor Sanwo-Olu signed an Executive Order against indiscriminate and illegal dumping of waste in the State, conversation on the return of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is still a proposal.

Lagosians will be notified appropriately when the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is to commence.”
