Kwara PDP elders mourn late mother of Emir of Ilorin

The Elders’ Forum of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara on Thursday paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari over the death of his 110-year-old mother, Hajiya Aishat Gambari.

The forum led by its chairman, Alhaji Abdulraheem Oleshin prayed to Allah to grant the emir and his family the strength to go through the hard situation.

Oleshin, who noted that mothers stay in a very special part of children’s hearts even after she passed-on, expressed the deep sorrow of the forum over the demise of the mother.

He, however, urged the emir to accept the death as the will of Allah, saying that the matriarch of the Sulu-Gambari’s dynasty lived an exemplary and fulfilled life.

According to him, the forum visited the palace also to deliver the message of the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, who had not been able to come due to a pressing national engagement.

He described the late Hajiya Gambari as a devout mother and committed Muslim, who lived to impact on the people of the emirate.

He, therefore, prayed to Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljanah firdaus while he sought for the emir and his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Hajiya Gambari died on Monday at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital at the age of 110

The deceased, who was the mother of the 11th Emir of Ilorin, was a daughter to the 8th Emir of Ilorin and married to the 9th Emir of Ilorin.

In his response, Sulu-Gambari praised the elders for associating with him and the family during their period of grief.

Other members of the elders’ delegation were Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, the Secretary; Alhaji Jimoh Adeshina, the Kwara Central Senatorial District chairman, Alhaji Musa Yeketi, a former Commissioner for Education and Alhaji Oba Ajara among others. (NAN)
