Kwara NUJ chair appointed member of Presidential team on COVID-19

Chairman of the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Umar Abdulwahab, has been appointed a member of the Federal Government’s Joint Technical Task Team (JTTT) on Emergency Response to COVID-19.

The committee is saddled with the coordination and addressing challenges in the movement of food and agricultural inputs in the country.

The JTTT was launched by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alh Muhammed Sabo Nanono, in collaboration with his counterpart in the Ministry of Defence, Interior and Police Affairs, pursuant to the directive of President Muhammodu Buhari during his last nation’s broadcast.

President Buhari had directed the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development to set up a task force to ensure minimal impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on year 2020 farming season.

The Team is expected to facilitate free and unhindered movement of food and agricultural inputs across the length and breadth of  the country without compromising the security and health of the nation.

The terms of reference of JTTT includes working with relevant agencies in the States and Local Governments to develop a window that would facilitate free and unhindered movement of foods.

It also includes movement of  livestock and agricultural inputs throughout the country without compromising the security and health of the nation amongst others, a statement by the Kwara State Council said.
