Kwara gov. addresses Christians in Church before Palm Sunday procession

Governor of Kwara,State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on Sunday addressed Christians in Ilorin before the commencement of this year’s Palm Sunday procession making it the first ever, in the North Central State.

 

 

 

 

 

Before now, it had always been a tensed occasion, heating up the atmosphere between the Christians and Muslims in the state capital. It once led to a bloody clash between the adherents of the two faiths which subsequently forced government to restrict the routes of Palm Sunday processions in the city.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

However, the governor who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Religion Matters, Rev. Timothy Akangbe said his government would not relent in meeting the needs of the people irrespective of their diverse faiths and creed.

Speaking with the Christians in front of St. Barnabas Cathedral, Sabo Oke Ilorin Governor AbdulRazaq charged the peoe to embrace peace at all time among themselves stressing the need for prayers and peaceful co-existence among them to ensure progress and development of the Kwara State in particular and Nigeria in general.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

He admonished the people to continue to support and pray for the government at all levels promising that on his part, he would not discriminate or encourage biases in whatever form.

Governor AbdulRazaq noted that Palm Sunday is a part of the missionary journey and triumphal entry of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem calling on Christians to emulate the virtues of Jesus who is the perfecter of Christian faith.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also speaking, Acting Baba Aladura, Cherubim & Seraphim Church World wide, Most Senior Apostle Peter Adeleke admonished Nigerians to be humble in their day to day activities and exhibit the spirit of caring for others as exemplified by the Lord Jesus.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

He noted that God owns the people and the people to in return, to be ever willing to surrender themselves to His authority.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bishop of Methodist Church of Nigeria, Kwara Diocese, Right Reverend Joseph Oshifuwa who also spoke stressed the need for peace, justice, equity and unity among the people and urged Nigerian leaders to imbibe this tendency in governance
