Kwara community set to honor former Sports Ministry director

A former director in the federal ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr Steve Abiodun Olarinoye would be bestowed with a special award by his community, Omupo Descendants Union on June 8.
In fact the award would be for father and son as Steve’s son, Dr Ayodeji Olarinoye a medical doctor and FIFA Doping Control Officer would also be honored.
Amupo Descendants Union in a letter conveying the decision to honor the duo noted that father and son have recorded significant achievements in their areas of endeavor which has robbed off positively on the community.
The letter which was signed by the National President of the body, Dr Monisoye Olorunsola Afolabi stated in part:” In recognition of your achievements, particularly in the last five five years, the National Executive Committee of Amupo Descendants Union, with the support and approval of HRH Oba Yakubu Adebayo Buari (the Olomu of Amupo Land) deem it expedient to honor you as appropriate.”
The ceremony is billed to hold at Amupo Town Hall at 11 am on June 8.


It would be noted that Steve Olarinoye who retired last year from the federal ministry of Youth and Sports was the secretary of various Sports federations. He also served in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). He is at present the chairman of Kwara Weightlifting Association and a board member of Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF).
