Kano police arrest man who allegedly rapes 40 women in one year

The Kano State Police Command has said it arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly raping about 40 different women in the state within one year.

The suspect, Mohammed of Kwanar Dangora village has also confessed to the crime, adding that his victims included  young girls, married and old women. 

The state police spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna, DSP, confirmed the arrest, saying all the rape incidents took place in one town.

Haruna said, “It is true. We have him in our custody. We are parading him soon.”

He disclosed that the suspect was arrested when he sneaked into a house to rape a girl but the mother raised the alarm on discovering him inside her children’s room in Dangora town.

Unfortunately for him, however, neighbours caught him as he was running away.

It was during interrogation that the suspect confessed to raping about 40 women, including old women in the village within one year.

The police spokesman said that investigation was continuing and added that the suspect had been transferred to Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
