Kano govt. berates hunters clash at Ganduje town

…Police confirms one life lost, not three

Kolawole Emmanuel, Kano

The Kano State Government has berated the clash which occurred last Sunday between local hunters in Ganduje town of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state, the home town of incumbent Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The clash had led to the death of one person while two others were critically injured.

However, the state’s Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), SP Magaji Musa Majia, who confirmed the report, said one life was lost during the clash contrary to a claim by a source that three lives were lost during the incident and promised to bring the perpetrators to book .

It would be recalled  that there was a rumour making the rounds which claimed that an alleged  clash between supporters of Governor Ganduje and opposition party led to the clash.

According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Youth and Culture, Malam Muhammad Garba, and made available to pressmen, on Tuesday, however, disclosed that there was no iota of truth that it was clash between the governor’s supporters and the opposition party.

Comrade Garba further disclosed that the governor has directed security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter with a view to bringing to book perpetrators of the unfortunate incident.

The Commissioner, therefore, refuted the claims by some selfish individuals to link the clash with Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s visit to the town to attend a wedding Fatiha.

His words, “While it is true that Governor Ganduje was in the town to attend a wedding Fatiha, the clash between the rival hunters erupted after the governor left the town,’’

He then assured that the state government would not fold its arms and allow disgruntled elements to disturb the peace of the state.

Governor Ganduje then promised to continue to work towards protecting the lives and property of the people in the state.

He equally advised citizens to develop the spirit of tolerance, patience and obedience to constituted authorities at all times.
