The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, has upturned the ruling the FCT High Court, which invalidated the Kano State Ward and local government congresses organised by a faction of the party loyal to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
Another faction of the party headed by Malam Ibrahim Shekarau had approached the FCT High Court after the congresses of the APC in Kano and secured the court’s nod for its faction’s congresses while dismissing the one by the Ganduje faction.
However, the governor’s faction appealed the ruling, which the court of appeal has nullified.

The appeal court also held that the case was not a pre-election matter but an internal matter of the party which should therefore be decided by the leadership of the party.
Consequently, the Governor Ganduje-led faction, which elected Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas as chairman, has been accorded recognition as the authentic APC in Kano State.
