JUST IN: Rotimi Amaechi bows to pressure, quits Buhari’s govt.

Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, has finally resigned from office.

Amaechi’s resignation is in line with the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari to cabinet members with political ambitions.

Recall that President Buhari had, last Wednesday, at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, in Abuja, directed members of his cabinet seeking political offices to resign on or before Monday, May 16, 2022.

The minister is among several members of President Buhari’s cabinet that signified teir interest to replace the Daura-born retired Army general in 2023.

It was gathered that  Amaechi’s resignation letter came in, on Monday.

However, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami SAN, has not tendered his resignation despite today (Monday) being the deadline, as at time of filing this report.

AGF Malami had, in April 2022, declared interest in the Kebbi State governorship race.

However, last Friday, he pulled out of the Kebbi State governorship race.
