JUST IN: Police stop Wole Soyinka, others from speaking on insecurity in Lagos

The police have sealed off the venue of a symposium where Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, and other speakers were to address the state of insecurity in the country.

The programme, organised by a group known as Coalition for Revolution (CORE), was billed to hold at No. 46, Ibijoke Street, Oluyole Bus Stop, Oregun, in Lagos State.

It has as its theme: ‘Democracy, State Repression and the State of insecurity in Nigeria’.

The Nigerian XPress visited the venue, on Monday morning, and observed police vans were seen at strategic locations around the venue.

No information was given by the security operatives as to why the venue of the event was sealed.
