JUST IN: Ikeja on lockdown as Buhari visits Police College

There was heavy security presence at the Police College in Ikeja, the Lagos State capital,  on Thursday afternoon, where President Muhammadu Buhari launched some newly-procured security equipment for state.

The security equipment, donated by the Lagos State Government, include Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC), operational buses and vans, bullet proof vests, ballistic helmets, arms and ammunition, among others.

Heavily armed military personnel, officials of the Department of State Services (DSS), policemen and other security agencies patrolled the grounds in a show of serious business.

Dignitaries and guests were strictly frisked before gaining entrance into the arena.

There was drama, however, as two of Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu I’s chiefs were prevented from gaining access to the venue, while only one was allowed in.

Oba Akiolu arrived at the venue about 12.30p.m.

The Iyaloja-General, Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, was accompanied by three persons who were all allowed into the venue.
