The Bayelsa State House of Assembly now has a new Speaker. He is Hon. Abraham Ngobere, who until now was the deputy Speaker of the Assembly.
This was coming after the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Monday Bubou-Obolo, stepped down to pave the way for Hon. Ngobere.

The Nigerian Xpress gathered that the change in leadership was necessitated because incumbent Governor Douye Diri is from the same Senatorial District (Bayelsa Central Senatorial District) as the former Speaker, Hon. Bubou-Obolo, which would not be in tandem with the political structure of positions in the state should the former Speaker had been allowed to continue in office.
