June 12: Delta Police warns agitator’s against protests

Commissioner Police in Delta State, Mr. Ari Muhammed Ali, has warned that he would deal with any person or groups of persons who planned to cause disunity in the state during celebration of June 12th, 2021, tag ‘Democracy Day’.

The police boss gave this warning in a statement signed by the acting Police Public Relation Officer in the state Command, DSP Bright Edafe, a copy of which was made available to The Nigerian Xpress, in Asaba, on Friday.

The statement said that Command was ready to deal decisively with any agitators, criminally minded elements who wants to distort the peace and unity existing in the state.

The Police Command said it was aware of planned protest by some agitators on 12th of June 2021, and is also aware that this protest is being staged by criminally minded individuals, hiding under the guise of peaceful protest in order to causing havoc in the state should stop forthwith or face wrath of the law.

“The Command is more than ever willing to go after any miscreant who might be found wanting while officers and men have been placed on red alert and ordered to arrest and deal decisively with any criminally minded elements who wish to go against this order.

The statement read in part, “Members of the public particularly residents of Delta state are to be aware that on no account should any group be seen, gathering or carrying placard in the name of protest, as such will not be allowed in the state.

“The Commissioner of Police is committed to sustain and maintain peace the state is currently enjoying while urging members of the public to partner with the police to see that those who try to bring disunity in the state and our dear nation be arrested and brought to book.

“In addition, it is pertinent to state that undercover police detectives have been deployed across the state for the purpose of arresting any person or persons staging any form of protest.”
