Joint security operatives rescue 76 kidnapped victims in Kaduna

Efforts of the joint security operatives of the police and military have yielded great fruits, as they rescued 76 kidnapped victims in Kaduna.

The victims were abducted along Funtua-Zaria Road at Gulbala area of Giwa Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement, the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mohammed Jalige, said the victims were rescued, following the report received from the Police Divisional Headquarters in Giwa  that scores of armed bandits had blocked the road and kidnapped several of passengers.

Consequently, the joint security operatives moved into the location, where they discovered an empty vehicle – a Ford open truck with Reg. No. APP 667 XG, which was conveying victims.

They dismantled the road blocks and engaged the  bandits in a gun duel and eventually  rescued all the 76 victims except the truck driver and two other passengers yet to be accounted for.

Jalige said: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims who were passengers on the truck were travelling from Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto State en-route to different destinations when they were intercepted by the marauders.” 

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Yekini Ayoku, was delighted with the cooperation among the security operatives in the State, which was responsible for the successes recorded. 

Mr. Ayoku assured the public of continuous success against bandits and other criminals in the State.
