It’s hard for me to name financiers of terrorism in Nigeria – EFCC boss

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Thursday, declared that it would be hard for him to name financiers of terrorism in the country publicly.

Recall that the United Arab Emirates authorities recently identified six Nigerians on the list of financiers of terrorism.

Recall also that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration had vowed to release the names of that financing terrorism in the country but has not done that until now.

Meanwhile, the EFCC boss when asked about sponsoring terrorism in the country on Channels TV on Thursday evening, said he could not discuss a sensitive national security issue on national television.

Said he, “If you are my adviser will you advise me to come on national television to tell the whole world regarding matters of sensitive national security issue?

“Certainly, not. But what I want to assure you is we are working tirelessly with other sister agencies to ensure that this country is free of terrorism,” he said.

The EFCC boss also stated this after there were reports of him slumping at an event organised by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, in Abuja.

The EFCC boss while speaking on the issue noted that doctors have confirmed that he is okay and was only dehydrated.

He said, “I’m okay. You can see that I’m okay. There was a bit of dizziness, and I had to excuse myself, and of course, I went straight to the hospital where the doctors confirmed to me that everything about me is okay, except for the fact that I’m a bit dehydrated, that I need to take a lot of water.

“So, straightaway from the hospital, I went straight to the office. I’m now back at home.”
