Isa Kwarra competent, experienced to be chair of NPC, says Gov. Sule

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has described the recently-appointed chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, as not only ‘competent and experienced’ but has the capacity, honesty and loyalty to head the Commission.

Governor Sule stated this when a delegation from Wamba Local Government Area, on Tuesday, paid him a ‘thank you’ visit at the Government House.

The delegation was led by the Oriye Rindre, HRH Justice Lawal Musa Nagogo (rtd).

The governor, who could not hide his excitement over the visit, stated that the recent appointment of Hon. Kwarra as chairman of the NPC by President Muhammadu Buhari was an opportunity for the appointee to be a good ambassador of Nasarawa State.

While thanking God for the blessing, Governor Sule commended the people of Wamba Local Government for their unity, religious harmony and peaceful coexistence for the progress and development of not only Nasarawa State, but Nigeria, at large.

The governor urged the appointee to thank President Buhari, who strongly believed in the unity of Nigeria and who is willing to fight for the security and economic empowerment of the country, while also fighting corruption in order for the country to develop.

Governor Sule added that it has become even more imperative for Hon. Kwarra to further thank the President because he gave the approval for the construction of the Farin Ruwa Dam in Wamba Local Government Area in the state, with the ground breaking ceremony for the project scheduled to take off next week.

The governor, who was thrilled by the array of traditional dancers that accompanied the delegation, used the opportunity to responds to negative propaganda on sections of the media.

According to him, immediately after Hon. Kwarra was appointed by the President, he received all kinds of insults over allegations that he influenced a change in the position in favour of a Hausa-Fulani from Kano State, that saw a Christian being denied the opportunity to head the Commission.

“But the happiness, the excitement that I saw today have taken away all those insults.

“Because part of the accusation was that I have changed a Christian with somebody from Kano. I was waiting to see the Kano people come and dance but I didn’t see any.

“Instead, I saw not only the chairman-designate, but I also saw the NPC Commissioners joining their fellow Commissioner to dance the Kantana dance,” the governor stated.

Governor Sule equally showed appreciation to the Arum, Kantana, Kulere and Bu ethnic nationalities for writing to show appreciation over the appointment of their son.

Earlier, in an opening remarks, the Oriye Rindere, HRH Justice Lawal Musa Nagogo, said it became compellingly necessary for the people of Wamba council, to come to the Government House to appreciate and thank the Governor for finding it worthy to elevate their son to chair the NPC.

Also speaking, acting Chairman of the NPC, Bimbola Hundeyin, who led 9 other commissioners on the visit, thanked the Governor for the wisdom in nominating Hon. Kwarra for the position of the Chairman of the commission.

“We at the NPC, we are delighted, as excited as the people of Wamba because your choice couldn’t have been better.

“Hon. Kwarra has been a friend of all of us, he is a gentleman, a calm person. We are happy that with a choice like him, we have continuity, someone who has always been with us, someone who understands the workings of the commission,” he stated.
