Int’l friendly: Onuachu’s goal gives Eagles victory over Egypt

Super Eagles new kid on the block, Paul Onuachu justified his call up to the team with his brilliant performance against Egypt in today’s international friendly at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

Onuachu who made his debut in the game against Seychelles on Friday was a delight to watch against the Pharaohs. His first minute strike was all the Eagles needed to secure a morale boosting 1-0 victory over Egypt ahead of the AFCON 2019 tournament which Egypt is hosting.
The encounter was one in which Gernot Rohr tried out the goalkeeping duo of Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa. First choice keeper, Uzoho was rested after being on duty for the U23 team on Monday.
Ezenwa did a good job as his 87th minute save stopped Egypt from leveling up in the highly entertaining match which was watched by Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa.
The Nigeria, Egypt tie ended five days of football Festival in Asaba that starred with the Eagles, Seychelles AFCON qualifier.
