Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice (AGF), Abubakar Malami, has disclosed that the Federal Government was considering a ban on the use of commercial motorcycles, popularly called Okada, and mining activities in the country.
According to Malami, the measure became necessary as a measure to block funding of terrorists and bandits that have made life miserable for Nigerians.
The Minister, on Thursday, made the disclosure to State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja after a meeting of the National Security Council, NSC, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He was in company with the Police Affairs Minister, Mohammed Dingyadi, and the Interior minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, as he addressed the newsmen.
The AGF added that the meeting considered means of blocking the logistics deployed by the terrorists in their nefarious activities.
Malami said the terrorists had migrated from the conventional ways of funding their activities to mining and ransom taking and it had become imperative for government to respond accordingly.
He explained that while bandits relied on the motorcycles for movement, they also used mining as a source of funding for their arms supply.
