Insecurity: Fear grips Nigeria, shuts  down college over  threat

Anthony Iwuoma
The Federal Government has panicked over rising insecurity in the country and ordered that the Federal Government College, Kwali in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, be shut down immediately due to security threats.

Furthermore, it directed the National Examination Council, NECO, to hurry up the examinations for final-year students.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who gave the directive on Monday, said the closure became necessary following a security breach on Sheda and Lambata villages, suburbs of Kwali Area Council, which also posed as a threat to the college.

“All necessary arrangements should be made for final year students to conclude their NECO examinations,” the minister directed.

“Principals of Unity Colleges across the country must liaise with security Agencies within their jurisdictions to forestall any security breach in our schools.”

The social media had on Monday circulated news around the FCT that that the Federal Government has shut down all the unity schools, prompting parents to scamper to evacuate their wards from the school located in the suburb of FCT.
However, as it turned out, only FGC Kwali, was affected.
